In India, Xiaomi has formally announced the Redmi A5, an entry-level smartphone. Flipkart, Mi.com, and physical stores will sell the phone today for Rs 6,499 for the 3GB+64GB model and Rs 7,499 for the 4GB+128GB model.

The Redmi A5 has an 8MP front camera for selfies and a 32MP AI dual rear camera for better photography. It also provides film filters to add a surreal touch to photos. 1080p is the highest resolution available for video recording. AI facial unlock and a fingerprint sensor on the side are security features. In addition, it has Bluetooth functionality and works with both 4G and 5G dual bands. It has a 150 percent volume increase and a 3.5mm headphone connector for connected attachments.
The Android 15 operating system powers the smartphone, which will get four years of security patches and two years of software updates.
