Samsung One UI 7 – Review: (from other sources)

It was only a question of time until Samsung’s most recent software update was released to all compatible devices following the release of the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025.

The Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Tab S10 tablet line are just a few of the many Galaxy phones and tablets that are expected to have One UI 7 on February 7, 2025. Although we can’t guarantee that every unit will receive the update on the first try or if you’ll have to wait a little while, more devices will follow suit.

Naturally, One UI 7 will be pre-installed on all Galaxy S25 devices, but Galaxy S24 customers will be the first to receive the upgrade.

With several updates, new features, and improvements to the user experience, the One UI 7 beta, which is based on Android 15, provides us with a great preview of what Samsung has been working on for their software.

Samsung One UI 7 – The new features and changes : (from other sources)

The One UI 7 update’s numerous graphic modifications scattered almost everywhere are the first significant change you’ll notice. First of all, compared to the previous minimalist icons, you will notice a lot of new ones that are much more vibrant and have a lot more personality. Specifically, the Samsung Internet, Gallery, Phone, Contacts, Settings, and Camera have been updated.

The majority of widgets have stayed the same, however some have been updated with more colorful and educational designs.

Because the various pieces are tethered together, it’s not as easy to customize as it is on iOS, but that’s a good thing because you can’t really leave an ugly blank area anyplace. Samsung deserves praise for taking an idea and making it better. As an iOS user, I fear personalizing my Control Center because it can easily become a nightmare for someone with OCD. However, Samsung should include the option to remove individual tiles.

Samsung One UI 7- Both the lock screen and the always-on display can now use the new “Now bar.” (from other sources)

This one is located between the icon shortcuts at the bottom of the lock screen/always-on display. Like iOS’ Live Activities, it displays notifications that are constantly running, such as music playback, modes/routines, and charging, in addition to live notifications from the clock, voice recorder, emergency sharing, Samsung Health, Interpreter, Maps, Samsung Notes, Bixby, and Samsung Notes.

~ Speaking of the lock screen, it now has several additional clock animations and styles, which expands the available personalization possibilities. Additionally, there are a few new lock screen icon widgets available.

~ Additionally, Samsung has made some modifications to the app switcher. With several app cards stacked on top of one another, the app switcher has essentially changed from the basic one in One UI 6.1 to one that is more akin to iOS.

On the home screen, not much has changed! (from other sources)

With some of the more obscure climatic categories toward the middle scoring more interesting images, the Samsung Weather app has been somewhat changed and made more informative.

Numerous adjustments have also been made to the camera interface. To say that it’s a total renovation would be an understatement. All of the quick controls that were previously located at the top of the screen are now housed in a discrete folder directly above the camera selector, and the mode selector has been repositioned to the bottom of the screen. The only controls left at the top are the flash, resolution choice, and Motion Photo. Additionally, the zoom slider has been lowered from the viewfinder itself so that it no longer blocks part of the image.

Samsung One UI 7 – Conclusion : (from other sources)

As it turns out, One UI 7 is going to be a huge success. From an objective standpoint, we don’t really see anything that we dislike, and every modification makes the experience better. Good!

One UI 7 feels and looks amazing, despite being in early beta. One UI 7 adds some fantastic new features, enhances current functionalities, and “modernizes” the entire interface on top of a rather dismal Android 15 that didn’t deliver any noteworthy new features.
